In der Leiwener Laurentiuslay blüht wie in vielen anderen Weinbergen das Echte Leinkraut auch jetzt noch im Oktober, wenn die Trauben geerntet werden. Es fühlt sich an diesem luftigen, warmen, sonnigen Standort wohl.
Echtes Leinkraut ist ein typischer Apophyt: eine Pflanze, die auf von Menschen geschaffene (anthropogene) Standorte wechselt und teilweise sogar darauf angewiesen ist. Ursprünglich gehörte es zur Küstenvegetation.
